The product planning checklist: 42 questions before you build.

Answer these before you hire a team or write a line of code. Most expensive mistakes in software projects start as an unanswered question on this list.

01Problem & users

Who exactly has the problem — one sentence, one kind of person?
What do they do today instead (spreadsheet, WhatsApp, another tool, nothing)?
What does the current workaround cost them in time or money each week?
Have you spoken to at least five of these people this month?
What would make them switch — and what would make them not bother?
Who pays, and is that the same person who uses it?
